Toadstool Geological Park & Campground

US Forest Service · Nebraska

Toadstool Geological Park & Campground in Nebraska. Ringed marker is this site; the other dots are the 91 public campsites we map in Nebraska.

Toadstool Geologic Park is a stark, other-worldly landscape unlike any other place in Nebraska. From the small campground, visitors can hike different trails to explore the badlands rock formations and prairie ecosystem. In 1984, the Forest Service constructed a sod house near the site of a former sod house built in 1929. The new "soddie" provides a look into the past when the homesteaders on the grasslands used the only abundant material available. Fossils and artifacts are protected under federal laws. Please recreate responsibly.
